Fated Lovers No. 11

Day 11 of EqD's Artist Training Grounds was "Draw a pony at a museum/Draw a pony's masterpiece". This picture was based off a painting on the wall of the museum in the Fluttershy microseries of the My Little Pony comic. Since the painting is only visible in one panel and the details were pretty minimal, I tried to retain as much of the original substance of the painting as I could while still adding details and my own embellishments. That's why some of the anatomy looks a bit wonky, and that's also why the ponies look extremely similar to Cadance and Shining Armor but not quite.

Since this was based off a 'museum' painting, I tried for a bit more of a painterly look by using a larger, harder brush than normal. If I did this again, I think a smudgy oil painting look would have looked better than the chunky acrylic look I went for.

Also, for anyone who's read the comic, is it just me or did it seem like 95% of the paintings in that museum were of either Twilight Sparkle or Cadance?
